We will be adding more here, in the very near future,
but let's start with some of the more common questions.
Q: how do I pronounce "Proulx"?
A: It's very simple: "Proo". It rhymes with chew, blue,
kazoo... The "L" and "X" are silent.

Q: How do I place a guitar order, how much is the deposit,
and how long is the wait?
A: Due to our long backlog, we are not currently accepting
deposits. What we are accepting is your name and contact information, where
you will be placed in-line as of the time and date you asked to be added to
our list. As we move forward, all new orders will come from this list, and
we will begin accepting the new orders near the end of 2009, as we are
finally in the last dozen or so of the 2003 orders. Yes, we are still
working on the 2003 backlog! Now, instead of accepting so many deposits as
we did previously, what we will be doing is calling the first person on our
wait list, where he/she may now send a deposit of $500 and we begin the
process of spec'ing out the guitar, and working together on the build. The
idea will be to work within a 6 month or shorter time frame, from deposit to
completion. If he/she declines, we will go to the next person on the list,
and so on and so forth. Since no deposits have been accepted on this wait
list, it is therefore impossible to say exactly how long the wait will be
for those placing orders today, but I can assure you that I'm young enough
that I WILL get to you, and that every day you delay, someone else will get
ahead of you, and since there's no obligation, what are you waiting for? To
everyone who thinks this method is a bit crazy, I apologize, but it is the
only way I can think of to keep things fair, and to maintain our always
reasonable pricing.. So, head to the contact page, and fire me, or Jenny, an
email with all of your contact information, asking to be added to our guitar
wait list. It is important to give us more than a e-mail address, so that
when the times comes, we can contact you immediately and easily.

Q: How do I place an order for a mandolin?
A: With the mandolins, I'm doing things differently than for
the guitars. Demand for my guitars is so strong, I fear I would rarely have
a chance to build a mandolin, or even simply build an instrument that I
wanted to, just for fun, or for research and development. For that reason,
we are taking names and contact information for our mandolin list, where we
will contact the first person on that list when I do build a mandolin. If
the mandolin I built is something the person wanted, he/she has first right
of to purchase it (first dibs <lol>) on it. If he/she feels it isn't the
right mandolin at that time, their place in line will remain, meaning they
will have first right of refusal on the next mandolin, but we will now move
to the next person on the list. Sometimes my mandolin ideas are "out there",
like with the J-5+2, but more often than not, they simply reflect where I am
musically at the time I built it, and I do take "requests", and if the
request sounds like something I want to build at that time, it may happen,
but of course, we still will follow the list by date of request. Again,
there are no obligations tied to being on this list, so feel free to head to
the contact page, and send Jenny or me, an email asking to be added to our
mandolin list. Feel free to call us at 705-232-5482 if this, or anything
else, needs clarifying.
